I grew up on award shows. Sunday nights from mid january to mid march my entire family would gather around to enjoy the award show season. Everything from the golden globes to the grammys to the oscars. My favorite show has and always will be The Grammys. The night that celebrates the stars greatest achievements in music. They always out on a fantastic show. This year the host LL Cool J did a phenomenal job. He opened the show up with a prayer for the late, great Whitney Houston. I enjoyed seeing the stars with bowed heads taking a moment to respect the greatness that Whitney was and her fabulous contributions to the industry. Many stars showed up in black, and Jennifer Hudson gave her a beautiful tribute.
The moments that stuck out to me the most were : Bruno Mar's is fantastic performance. He looked so handsome in that gold suit jacket and black bow tie. I loved when he said "Get off your rich asses and have a good time". I thought it was very appropriate. If I was at the Grammys watching Bruno Mars perform, I would be up on my feet dancing and having a good times. Celebrities can be really uptight sometimes. Adele's performance blew me away. She didn't have to dance around or expose herself. She stood and she sang. It was powerful and she proved that she was the most talented person in the room. Desearving of all the awards she won. Taylor Swift singing mean was a whole lot of the fun. I liked how she changed the lyrics to "someday, i'll be, singing at the grammys" . She was sparkling. Drake presenting Nicki Minaj kind of made my night more then it should have. MY heart started beating all fast and everything haha. Chris Brown won his first grammy and proved that he is one of the great entertainers of our time. He dances and really puts on a show.
I didn't enjoy all the old men making comebacks but I did enjoy the people covering their songs. Adam Levine from Maroon 5 couldn't be more attractive. I really enjoy the song wouldn't it be nice. It makes me happy. It was also great to see my country people like the band perry and Lady Antebellum. Bon Iver winning the best new artist award? Not something i was happy about. My thoughts were that the award would go to the Band Perry even though it belongs to Nicki Minaj. She started a movement...i've never heard of him. But whatever. The little people have to win sometimes.
Speaking of Nicki Minaj the Exorcism of Roman was the craziest thing I had ever seen. I wasn't too shocked seeing her on the red carpet in the little red riding hood kind of thing, but I was surprised to see her being brought in by a bishop. It sure got me talking. The performance was a little too crazy for my taste though. There were moments where I felt like she was insulting my religion and there were moments that were just plain scary. But it was the most memorable performance of the night. She got what she wanted.
Another huge part of the Grammys is the fashion. Check out my best dressed males and females (No i'm not just picking my favorite artist. They just happen to be the ones who know how to dress):
Most Memorable outfit : Roman
Worst Dressed:
1. Katy Perry. Her dress was gorgeous and her face was pretty as usual but her hair made the entire outfit a zero. I didn't like the mixing of the blues and I didn't like her hair slicked back like that.
2. Fergie. where are the rest of your clothes? I didn't think that it was the right look for something as prestigious as the Grammys. It definitely wasn't fergilicous. She can do better.
That's a rap. You now have my summary of the 2012 Grammys. They were unforgettable.

"The rain is falling. Defeat is calling. I need you to set me free"
On February 11th, 2012 the world lost an icon that will never be replaced. The beautiful and talented Whitney Houston. It's sad to think that some people in our generation only know Whitney as the druggy woman who freaked out when Bobby Brown got sentence and is the punch line to Tyler Perry's jokes. She was so much more then that. She was a voice that the world had never heard before. My first personal experience with Whitney Houston was in Rodger's and Hammerstien's Cinderella. Whitney Houston was the kind fairy godmother who made all of Cinderella's wishes come true. Even in there you can feel the power of her voice. Her voice is one that could never be mimicked. No one can hit and the notes with the power Whitney did. Yes she had her problems like many other people, but that shouldn't overpower all the wonderful things she accomplished. My personal favorite songs of hers are : I Look To You, I Will Always Love You, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, and Saving All My Love For You . I Look To You was actually my go to song when I took long walks at sunset this summer just contemplating this crazy thing called life.
R.I.P. Whitney Houston : You are gone but never forgotten. Keep her eighteen year old daughter Bobbi Kristina in your prayers. She lost not only her mother but her best friend and rock. I can't even begin to imagine what she's going through
A little update though : the investigation of her death is still going on. The information released to the public is that she was found be a member of her entourage dead in the bathtub at only 48 years old. The autopsy showed water in her lungs which is a sign of drowning. We don't know whether it was intentional or any accident and if drugs were involved.
Her daughter Bobbi Kristina was rushed to the hospital twice because of intense breakdowns. Her father Bobby Brown (from New Edition) flew to Los Angeles the next day to be by his daughters side. The night of Whitney's Death he performed and had a bit of a breakdown himself on stage.

"I wish you joy and happiness. But above all, I wish you love"
February 14th. The one day every year when six billion people stop what they're doing to appreciate and acknowledge those who mean the most to them. The ones who lit up their world when everything was dark and gave them something to believe again. The ones whom they love. I think that says something about our "very screwed up society". All you hear on the news are stories about how we live in a society of people who would rather be with their phone then with others, and don't have compassion for their fellow human being. But this is the day that proves it all wrong. It shows that we're willing to show others what they mean to us. And we're all striving to find someone thats willing to do the same for us. The fact that we're all still looking for love and believe in the idea of it says that we're not a completely lost generation of people.
I recently saw the movie The Vow with Channing Tatum and Rachel McCadams. Rachel happens to be one of my favorite actresses. I love The Notebook, The Time Travelers Wife, and Mean Girls a lot more then the average person. When I saw she was pared up with the heartthrob Channing I knew I had to see the movie. What caught my attention the most was the story and the fact that it was based on a real couple. Spoiler Alert: The couple was in a car accident and the women lost every memory of their time period together. She had no idea who her husband was. He did everything in his power to make her fall in love with him again. It didn't work and he thought that he had lost her forever. But someway, somehow life brought them together in a whole new way and made them fall in love again all over again. She never regained her memory, but they lived happily ever after in their own way. Cute story huh?
So my wish for all of you readers is that you don't take Valentines Day as a day where you "waste" money, a "cheesy commercial holiday", "single awareness day (i'll admit that one was pretty funny), or any of the other negative connotations it has come to have. Take it as a day that you appreciate all those in your life that have loved you in the past or love you now. Take a moment to tell them that they mean something to you. And if you're a guy go all out. I expect you to buy every flower in the shop and chocolate from Russels Stover. Just kidding. It's always the thought that counts.
song of the day: I Will Always Love You by the late great Whitney Houston
quote of the day: "Your task is not to seek love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it" - Rumi
Happy Valentines Day Everyone! <3

"You're my survival, you're my living proof my love is alive and not dead"
Hello wonderful readers & people who randomly find this 10 years from now,
My life has been rather interesting lately. I had some highs, lows, and maybes. The last three months of my life have been spent practicing for this big singing production that my school puts on. Everyone gets really into it and wants to be in as many songs as possible. I chose to lead three groups and did the best I possibly could with each and every one of them. They were songs that I love with all my heart and soul. I loved each and every one of the people in them. The practices were fun and definitely some of the highlights of my year so far. I have a bad feeling that none of the songs made the show. I prayed about it and kept my fingers crossed that I would achieve success. Deep down inside I'm a sore loser. I hate when other people beat me at things. I try to appreciate the games that I have win and what i'm good at, BUT in the back of my mind there's this little voice saying : you lost, you lost. I'm working on getting over it.
I also took more interest in my piano playing. I went to regional piano festival and achieved a two rating. Not bad, but it's not a 1. Thats the highest score. I think you're seeing this trend. I've started my year off on a losing streak, and I don't like it. But i'm determined to change things around or at least learn to be happy with less. March 1st is not only the great Justin Bieber's eighteenth birthday (my man is growing up!), but it's the day that I get to see Drake live! I am beyond excited. Drake is not only handsome, but one of the best rappers of our time and I get to see him from row 17. AHHHHH!!! It makes me so happy. You know you'll get the full play by play after I go.
Valentines day is around the corner. All people seem to be talking about is "why is eveyrone talking about valentines day so much" , not realizing that by saying that they're part of the reason people are talking about it. A wise friend of mine said, "I don't see why people are always sad on valentines day. They were single the day before and the day before that and didn't complain". I guess sometimes when you move through day to day life you don't realize that you're lonely. You only see clearly when everyone else seems to be with someone and you're along eating frosting and watching the notebook for the millionth time. I personally like Valentines Day. I like the idea of dedicating a whole day to Love. Of all the emotions in the world, Love is the most magical one. It makes people do crazy things and see life in a whole different way. What's not to love about love? If you're with someone do all you can to enjoy the day. If you're not then appreciate the fact that love is there and hold on to the hope of finding it someday.
